Although one cannot tell this by the temperature. It’s now early Fall, and time to focus more on our Religion, our Church and our Parish. I though therefore that I would use this week’s letter to remind everyone of some upcoming events. The Diocese of Fort Worth “Red Mass” for all who work in the Legal Procession will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Thursday, September 26th at 6:00 pm. I myself worked as a Legal Assistant at a Wall Street Law Firm (Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy) right after graduation from college, so this Mass always brings back good (if somewhat hectic!) memories for me. On Friday, September 27th the “40 Days for Life” Rosary begins (it will run through November 1st) For more information, please see Clara Uribe. The Altar Guild Fall meeting will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 12:00Noon. Our Guild is encouraging both ladies and gentleman (as well as older children) to attend, to meet members and see if you can volunteer one Saturday a month (as well as on the 6 Major Holy Days of the Year) to assist in preparing the vessels, vestments, Chancel and Pews for Sunday Morning Mass, (and, on Sundays) to assist on getting ready for the next Mass if you’re attending one of the earlier ones. To RSVP at this meeting, please see Directress Laura Walker. Additionally our Flower Guild is eager to invite new members to join and learn how to arrange the beautiful flower adornments for the High Altar and Shrines. For more information, please see Directress Cindy Carr. The St. Carlos Acutis Youth Group Swing Dance will take place on Saturday, October6th from 6pm to 9pm in the Parish Hall. Please see the flyers in the Narthex for more information or see Coordinator, Carol Kelly. Also, on Saturday, October 12th the Youth Group will enjoy a enjoyable Rosary Walk (time & location TBD) I will be attending the Ordinariate Clergy Assembly in Houston from Monday, October7th to Friday, October 10th. I am grateful that our long time Parochial Vicar Father Tom Kennedy will be taking the Noon Masses (and Wednesday Confessions) that week. (No Friday afternoon Adoration and Confessions that day.) On October 12th, our SMV Young Adult Group will help the ministry Project FindingCalcutta at 9:30 am in the Parish Hall. On October 20th at 1:00 pm. they will enjoy brunch in the Parish Library. And again on November 16th, they will enjoy a outdoor hike (time and location TBD) Friday, November 1st is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation in the Roman CatholicChurch. Masses at 12:00 Noon and 7:00 pm. The Youth Choir will sing at the Mass for children, written by Mary Nesvadba. Saturday, November 2nd is All Souls Day, there will be one Mass only at 12:00Noon, which we hope will encourage a robust attendance. The Choir will sing the much beloved Faure Requiem at this Mass. The Knights of Columbus will host the Silver Rose Ceremony on November26th after the noon Mass at 1:00 pm. The SMV 2024 Country Store will be back on December 8th after all the Masses. Come see all the goodies for your family and friends. I hope by sharing these events just before Autumn officially commences, that all of you will be able to attend and enjoy these upcoming events here at our church!
Faithfully, Your Friend and Pastor, Fr. Christopher C. Stainbrook, KHS
